Leg 1 of our trip was a big one. We were traveling from Port Dover to Erieau.
Our day started bright and early, with not a lot of wind so we went wing and wing ( a run) to Long Point. Once we rounded the point we had to turn on the engine as we were traveling directly into the wind.
That thankfully didn’t last very long and we were able to put our sails up and follow the wind across the lake. It was the first over night sail we’ve ever done.
We traveled 128NM over 28 hours and finally pulled into Erieau Marina around 9:45am the next day. By the time we were getting close to Erieau Marina the waves had picked up to 6′ or 7′. While the boat handled the waves and weather beautifully, one crew member (Britt) did not handle it quite as well. Needless to say she was beyond happy to finally make it into port in the morning. We spent a few days waiting out weather by working on projects, walking the beach and having the pleasure of running into some of the marina staff we met last year.
Wow, certainly beautiful sky.
