Leg 13 Shawanaga Island, ON – Bad River, ON

Leaving Shawanaga we were accompanied by two loons and perfect weather. We are headed towards Bad River.

Up with the sunrise

We left around 7:00am and while we started in narrow channels we made it to bigger water where we could sail. The winds eventually died and we turned on the motor with our sails and continued on at just over 6 knots.

On our way we passed by loons, and Pointe au Baril.

Saw a bunch of loons
Pointe au Baril is quite literally a barrel which was used to indicate an entrance into safe harbour

We got to see some beautiful lighthouses and were also joined by a feathered friend who sat on top of our mast for a good portion of the journey.

We threw in a tack and were able to motor sail the rest of the way in to the anchorage on one tack. We shared the anchorage with one other sailboat. Britt swam, we made dinner and relaxed the rest of the evening.
