We left Bad River around 7 am and almost immediately after leaving the anchorage we had our sails up and the engine off.
We sailed the entire way to Killarney and we went around a mountain range until we could see the entrance to Baie Fine.
With a narrow opening and a very narrow passage through the channel we made it back into our anchorage. We traveled 45nm averaging about 5knots. Even getting to the mouth of Baie Fine we still had another 4nm to motor. On our way into the anchorage we spotted an eagle in the top of a tree.
We were one of two sailboats in the anchorage but with plenty of room we could see only the top half of their mast past a point in the land. We settled in for the first night and started reading a book called The Embarrassment of Mangoes and loved how similar we could find parts of the book with ourselves.
The next morning was Sunday morning which means we put on our Sunday Morning Waffles playlist and Britt made waffles for breakfast.
After Britt had a nap and Tara took the dinghy for a ride, we decided to go on a hike to Topaz Lake. It was only about a 1km hike from the start of a trail off the lake and when we got there it was beautiful! The lake was crystal clear and we took some photos and decided we were coming back the next day with all of our snorkeling gear.
The next day we did hike back to Topaz with all of our snorkeling gear and had an incredible time! The water was a little cold to start but eventually we warmed up and circled a good chunk of the lake. We spent the day just exploring the lake and when we did get back we fished and watched the sunset. We spent almost 4 full days in Baie Fine and didn’t really want to leave.
Besides our hikes we also fished, swam, explored the land around us using the dinghy, and read some books. We had mountains ranges, clear water, hiking trails and we got to see some eagles. This anchorage pretty much checked all the boxes for both of us.
