Leg 22 Erieau, ON – Port Dover, ON

We spent the day in Erieau getting ready to go on a night sail. We went out for lunch and visited the marine store/lcbo and then we each took a nap. We left Erieau around 7pm to start our final 100+ nm sail back to Port Dover.

We had an amazing night sail. We stayed up for the first part of the night together. A full moon was rising and we got to watch it come up from the horizon. We averaged 6 knots through a good portion of the night and took turns sleeping and sailing. The sun came up and we continued sailing all the way to Long Point.

As soon as we came up to Long Point the wind died completely. We had to motor the rest of the way in.

We arrived back in Port Dover at 4:45pm. We got settled in our slip and headed up to the main office. We hadn’t been there for 5 minutes and Bill and Dani showed up to welcome us home! We spent an hour or so with them talking about our trip and when they left Britt’s friends Marg and Fran showed up with soup and we spent a half hour or so talking to them. After the left we had time to reflect on our journey (and the fact that we didn’t want it to be over) but we had an incredible trip and can’t wait for the next one.

We made it!!
