We left Cape Croker and headed towards a new anchorage called Little Beckwith.
We left McGregor Harbour early in the morning because we knew the wind was going to shift and die down. We motored to get out of the anchorage and once in a bit more open water we got our sails up. The day was spent reading, listening to audio books and looking at the landscape through the binoculars. It was going to be our third night on anchor and we had chosen to go someplace new on a long weekend. As we were getting closer to the anchorage we could see other spots filled up and two boats came around the corner from where our anchorage was and chose to go someplace else. So we got a bit worried that it would be full and while there were a lot of boats we slipped ourselves in the back edge tucked just behind a protected slip of land.
Britt went for a swim and checked on the rutter and prop just to make sure everything felt good.
Our first night Tara sensed something wasn’t quite right and woke up just before our anchor alarm told us we were drifting. So at 1:30am we got up and reset the anchor (after a full 180 degree wind shift). The next day boats continued to pour in and out of the anchorage and a plan began to form for us.
Tara’s friend Drew wanted to come visit but we were no where near a place we could pick him up. So Tara did some research and found that if he parked his car just off the 400 and hiked in on a trail, we could get ourselves to a new anchorage and dingy to get him. He quickly agreed to this plan and we were getting ourselves ready to set sail again the next day. The remainder of the day was spent reading, Britt watched movies while making cookies and key lime pie and Tara made us a fresh loaf of bread. We cleaned up the boat and did our checklist so we could get going the next morning.
